The Indian government provides security cover based on threat levels assessed by the Intelligence Bureau. The Y+ category is the fourth highest security tier in the country. Actor Vijay has now been assigned Y+ security, which includes 11 personnel, comprising four commandos and the rest as police officers.

The highest security tier is the Special Protection Group (SPG), designated for the Prime Minister, former PMs, and their immediate families for a limited period. This security includes elite armed forces.

The second-highest security is the Z+ category, provided to high-risk VIPs, consisting of around 30 security personnel.

The Z category, ranked third, is given to senior leaders and high-risk individuals, comprising approximately 20 personnel.

Y+ security, now assigned to Vijay, is usually allocated to Chief Ministers, VIPs, and prominent individuals.

The X category is the basic level of security, assigned to individuals facing low-level threats and includes a Personal Security Officer (PSO) for close protection.

With the Tamil Nadu elections approaching next year, Vijay has begun groundwork for his political journey. He plans to enter active politics after completing his current film projects. Recently, he met political strategist Prashant Kishor, who has assured guidance for the 2026 Assembly Elections.
