MS Dhoni emerged as the hero of the qualifier match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals after he scored 18 off just 6 balls to help CSK secure a spot in the final of the Indian Premier League for the ninth time. Virat Kohli showered praises on his former captain following the victory.

Delhi Capitals pacer Tom Curran needed to defend 13 runs off the final over as he got the wicket of Moeen Ali in the first ball. Dhoni then smashed three boundaries off the next three balls and reached the target of 173 with 2 balls to spare. Hailing Dhoni as the greatest finisher ever, Virat Kohli posted a tweet which read, "Anddddd the king is back the greatest finisher in the game. Made me jump Outta my seat once again tonight." CSK batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad shined with the bat yet again as he emerged as the top-scorer of the match with a 50-ball 70 while Robin Uthappa contributed a 44-ball 63.

The winner of the Eliminator match tonight will be facing off against Delhi Capitals in the second Qualifier game in an attempt to secure the second spot in the final of IPL 2021. 3 years after he announced his retirement from international cricket, MS Dhoni will be in charge of mentoring the Indian team in the upcoming T20 World Cup led by Virat Kohli.
