We all know that Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former retired Indian team captain, is still captaining the 4-times champions Chennai Super Kings in IPL. Thala Dhoni-led CSK has already clinched 11 points with its all-around performance and is now aiming for the playoffs confidently.
Meanwhile, there are numerous reports on the media saying that MSD plans to retire from the IPL as well after 2023. Even Dhoni himself said his post match presentations that he's in the final phase of his career and the fans are trying to give him a farewell. Now, Thala hinted that it may not be his farewell season.
CSK took on the Lucknow Super Giants in Ekana Stadium today. During the toss, Danny Morrison jokingly asked how Dhoni is enjoying his last season to which Thala replied in style, "You've decided it's my last" and laughed. Then, Danny Morrison stated that MSD will be coming back to IPL next year and Dhoni didn't deny it.
The skipper left everyone guessing and spilt beans that he might play in IPL 2024 as well. It is worth mentioning that Dhoni in 2020 replied to the same Danny Morrison that it is 'Definitely Not' his last season. Meanwhile, the CSK vs LSG match tied due to rain and both teams earned a point. While LSG is in the second spot in the points table, CSK is in the third position.
