Hilarious! Ten years of 'Thamizh Padam' poster trolls current political issues

Wednesday, January 29, 2020 • Tamil Comments

Its been ten years since Tamil cinema's first full-fledged spoof movie 'Thamizh Padam' released. The laugh riot directed by C.S. Amudhan also marked the entry of Sashikanth's YNot Studios which is now one of the leading production houses in Indian cinema. Mirchi Siva played the lead hero and came on to be known as the Agila Ulaga Superstar while the rest of the cast included Disha Pandey, Vennira Aadai Murthy, Manobala, M.S. Bhaskar, Paravai Muniyamma and Sathish.

Last evening Amudhan teased by asking on Twitter "Dear Sashikanth and YNot Studios I have not yet received the poster to be published tomorrow. I hope you don’t do anything controversial, I don’t want any negative feedback.". Sashi had replied "Yennada!!! .... you know us right.... rest assured .... nothing controversial .... sleep well . Goodnight"

However the poster celebrating Ten Years of Thamizh Padam has been released and as expected it's a hilarious take on the now controversial political issues "No CAA, NPR and NRC." In politics, these keywords mean Citizens Amendment Act, National Population Register and National Register of Citizens

In 'Thamizh Padam' parlance according to the poster No CAA means Cutout Atrocities by Agila Ulaga Superstar, NPR means No Nonsense Problems during Release and No Nadigar Sangam Related Controversies. The best is the punchline which is "Azaadi from cliches". Well, what more can you expect from this team but a hard-hitting statement.delvered in the most humorous manner.
