Pre-production work for Silambarasan's upcoming movie 'STR 49' is progressing rapidly. This film, featuring Simbu alongside another hero, is set in a college backdrop. The location scouting for the film is nearing completion while promotional activities for Simbu's other project, 'Thug Life' with Kamal Haasan, are also beginning.

Directed by Ramkumar Balakrishnan, 'STR 49' will be a youthful, entertaining commercial film featuring Simbu in a vintage avatar. The first look poster has already impressed fans. The director had proposed the idea of casting actor Santhanam alongside Simbu, to which Simbu responded positively but insisted that Santhanam’s role should add value to his career.

Santhanam, upon being approached, reportedly agreed to join the project immediately. The makers are also considering various actresses, including Kayadu Lohar and Mrunal Thakur, for the female lead. Most of the shooting will take place in a fresh college setting, avoiding previously used locations in Chennai. To find the perfect backdrop, the team has been scouting colleges in Hyderabad and Kerala.

The filming is scheduled to commence in the second week of April.
