A Small budget film Kida produced by Sravanthi Ravikishore has received a rare honour at the International Film Festival Of India which is being held in Goa. The film along with Kamalakannan's rural drama Kurangu Pedal was screened at the festival and got a standing ovation from the viewers.

Kida is directed by Ra Venkat, and features Poo Ramu and Kaali Venkat as the lead characters. The story of the film is said to revolve around the relationship between a little boy and his grandfather, with Madurai serving as the backdrop.

Director Ra Venkat has earlier worked as an assistant director in movies like Kirumi and Rekka. The other actors in the cast include Master Deepan, Paandiyamma, Loki, and Kamali. The music for the film was done by Theeson with M Jayaprakash and Anand Geraldin taking care of cinematography and editing respectively.

Following the huge recognition, the director said “I feel honoured that our film got such a rare recognition. The story is set in a village near Madurai. The three central characters are a grandfather, his grandson and a goat. The emotions of the trio are the driving force. When it was screened in the Panorama, I felt the younger section wouldn’t connect to it. But they’re the ones who lapped it up and I couldn’t have been happier. I grew up with my grandparents and I drew inspiration from my childhood memories while making the film. I’d like to thank my producer Ravi Kishore garu for his support. I feel honoured to have worked with a top man like him so early in my career. He gave me complete freedom. I thank him from the bottom of my heart.”The team is planning to release the film in the theatre soon.
