It makes up for a complete package when a movie possesses some awesome actors, even amazing direction, crisp screenplay and witty dialogues. Which Queen definitely was, and even though ''Shaandaar'' too has all these qualities, there is that Vikas Bahl touch missing. Read on to know what it is...

''Shaandaar'' revolves around the story of two insomniac people, Aliya (Alia Bhatt) and Jagjinder (Shahid Kapoor). While Aliya belongs to a rich business family, Jagjinder is a wedding planner. Coincidence strikes, when the two meet at Aliya''s sister''s wedding in Europe. The two bond, however it is Aliya''s father Binni (Pankaj Kapoor), who wants Aliya to be with a man of his status. Now will the two be able to convince Papa dear to be together? Forms the rest of the story...

Now even though the movie was promoted as a Alia and Shahid film, it is Pankaj Kapoor, who actually steals the show. The actor is excellent in every scene and takes the cake away. Coming to the lead pair, Alia looks mesmerizing and Shahid makes all the girls go head over heals. He looks hot. But more than their individual performances, it is their chemistry that rocks. The fresh pairing looks lovely together.

Vikas Bahl direction is praiseworthy and the filmmaker''s style of storytelling too keeps us mesmerized. But this time around, he lacks characterization. The characters of both the leads are badly written and being two very good actors, they just couldn''t show their expertise here. While the first half is funny and fine, the second half becomes tedious and Shahid and Alia''s chemistry goes haywire. The costumes and the wedding sequences are so much larger than life, that it becomes hard for us to believe it.

Cinematography is excellent as the camera covers the scenic Europe amazingly. The songs, which are already blockbusters, are a refreshment.

All in all, ''Shaandaar'' isn''t so Shaandaar afterall. However, being a rom-com and in the name of Vikas Bahl, I recommend it to be watched at least ones.
