The sensational Pranay's murder case which happened in Miryalaguda of Nalgonda district has come to an end now. In a landmark judgment, the SC/ST Second Additional Sessions Court has delivered its verdict today, sentencing one of the accused to death and others to life imprisonment.
Going back into the past, on September 14, 2018, Pranay Kumar, a 23-year-old Dalit man, was brutally murdered in Miryalaguda, Telangana. The attack occurred in broad daylight as Pranay was leaving a hospital with his pregnant wife, Amrutha Varshini, and his mother.
The job has been assigned to a contract killer Subhash Sharma, who used a machete to carry out the killing. The motive behind the murder was rooted in caste-based prejudice, as Pranay had married Amrutha against the wishes of her family. Amrutha's father Maruthi Rao was against the inter-caste union and he orchestrated the entire murder planning.
Later, A1 Maruthi Rao committed suicide and now, Subhash Sharma (A2) has been found guilty of executing the murder and he was sentenced to death. Other Accused (A3 to A8): Including Amrutha's uncle, Shravan Kumar, each sentenced to life imprisonment.
The then SP Ranganath who is currently serving as HYDRAA commissioner played a pivotal role in unraveling the conspiracy behind the murder.
