Director Agathiyan is back on track with Selvam which is all about a search for himself by a youth. Quite typical to Agathiyan, Selvam is a sensitive portrayal of human emotions and sentiments backed by a good screenplay.

Written, produced and directed by Agathiyan, it stars Mounam Pesiyadhe Nandha, Uma and Ranjitha in the lead roles.

After a debacle in Ramakrishna, the director seems to have put in his conscious effort to come up with a movie without any commercial compromise.

Cinematography by G Ramesh and Deva's good musical score adds strength to Selvam.

The movie begins with Nandha (Selvam)coming to Chennai. In a freak mishap, he suffers a injury on his head and he forgets all about his past.

Selvam rushes to a hospital nearby where he seeks the help of Dr Lakshmi (Ranjitha) to get back the memories of his past. She assigns Dr Thendral (Uma) to nurse him back to his normal self. Having forgotten his name too, Selvam is christened as Kannan by the doctors in the hospital. His search to find out his true identity continues.

In course of time Thendral falls for Kannan's innocence and expresses her love for him.

When the duo is all set to enter wedlock, a couple of incidents helps Kannan know about his past and he manages to meet his parents and his family in a remote village down south. Adding twist to the tale is Jyothy (Vani), his fiancee, waiting for his return. The rest is  about whom Kannan alias Selvam join hands with.

Nandha playing a confused youth has given a good and matured performance. Donning a tricky character, Nandha has come out with flying colors. His boy next-door looks adds strength. Equally impressive is Uma.

The movie has Manivannan, Alex, Sabitha Anandh, Ajay Rathnam, Muthukalai in the cast.

Though not on the levels of his Kadhal Kottai or Gokulathil Seethai, all credit to Agathiyan for giving an engrossing movie with a less known star cast.
