Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan (54), who resides in a high-rise in Bandra West, was attacked with a knife by an unidentified man on Wednesday night. The incident occurred at Saif's apartment on the 11th floor. The assailant stabbed him six times before fleeing the scene. Saif was rushed to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery and was placed in the intensive care unit (ICU). Fortunately, his condition stabilized, and he has now been moved out of the ICU.
The CEO of Lilavati Hospital, Neeraj Uttamani, stated, "Saif Ali Khan is very lucky. If the knife had gone just 2 millimeters deeper into his back, the consequences could have been far worse, causing severe injuries."
Bandra police have arrested the perpetrator, identified as Waris Ali Salman, based on CCTV footage. Investigations reveal that the assailant entered Saif's home and demanded Rs. 1 crore from the actor's staff. The attacker later broke into the bedroom of Saif's son, Jeh, causing panic. He also assaulted a female staff member, injuring her wrist and arms while demanding money from her. Hearing the commotion, Saif came out and confronted the assailant, leading to a scuffle during which the knife attack occurred.
Police investigations are ongoing to uncover further details about the incident.
