Analysis:
The performances are the heart of the movie. Pradeep Ranganathan, who became close to the Telugu audience with the film Love Today, was also impressed with this film. The scenes written based on the events happening in the lives of the youth of today's society are good. The film discusses the fake job market, which is ruling the roost currently.
Director Ashwath Marimuthu tried to cultivate entertainment in the youthful story. With that, the comedy touch was well achieved in the film. The way the hero Pradeep Ranganathan's character was established from the opening is good. The scenes and comedy between Pradeep Ranganathan's character and his father's character are especially a plus for the movie. Anupama Parameswaran's performance as the heroine is impressive. Kayadu Lohar, who appeared as another heroine, looked very glamorous. Her performance was also good. Similarly, along with the role of Mysskin, his dialogue and his gestures were good. Gautham Menon's performance as the head of the IT company was good. The rest of the cast made their presence felt.
Director Ashwath Marimuthu has a very good and interesting plot. However, he failed in coming up with a proper treatment for the movie. He failed to pen some important scenes with emotion. At times, the film feels slow and regular. However, some of the scenes have come out well. The scenes involving the hero making it big and successful should have been dealt well.
In the second half, except for the climax, the rest of the story lacks excitement. Although there is a chance to make the story more interesting, the director ended the film in his own style. Overall, Ashwath Marimuthu's direction skills, hero characterization, and BGM are good.
Although director Ashwath Marimuthu impressed with his take, he could not write a screenplay that was fully impressive for the story line he took. The background score in the film is good. The songs provided by music director Leon James are not bad. The cinematography is also good. Many of the scenes in the film are shot beautifully by Niketh Bommi. Regarding editing, editor Pradeep E Raghav should have shortened some of the extended scenes here and there. Producers Kalpathi S Aghoram, Kalpathi S Ganesh, and Kalpathi S Suresh have produced this film without compromising anywhere.
Verdict:
Return of the Dragon is the dubbed version of the Tamil film Dragon. The film is aimed at youth. It is a fresh take on complications in life and career in the modern age. Without getting preachy, the team tried to deliver an interesting film with comedy, emotion and thrills. However, regular play and the lag scenes in the film are minus points. On the whole, the film is good in parts.
