Superstar Rajinikanth and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan have acted together in close to two dozen films before deciding to go it alone in their own unique paths. While most of their combo films were action entertainers a few are also family stories and female centric ones.

One of the cult classics of the duo is 'Aval Appadithaan' directed by C. Rudraiah considered to be one of the greatest ever Tamil films. The film deals with the life and struggles to gain indepence from the male dominated society by a young girl played by Sripriya. Rajini played the role of a male chauvanist while Kamal portrayed a forward minded young man who tries to understand the protagonist.
