Icon star Allu Arjun's last film, Pushpa 2, has become a very big hit at the box office. Sukumar is the director of the movie. Interestingly, there has been an RTI request against the film's box office collections and the tax payments. Surprisingly, the revelations have been going viral on social media.
Information obtained under the Right to Information (RTI) Act by CPM leader C. Shobhan revealed details about the tax payments related to the movie. Reportedly, the commercial taxes department provided insights into the Goods and Services Tax (GST) filings associated with the film.
As per the reports, the production team of the movie submitted monthly GSTR-3B and GSTR-1 returns to the commercial taxes department. They also revealed that the filings included not only the movie’s revenue but also other business transactions.
The exact revenue break up of Pushpa 2 is not revealed but the tax payments for November and December amounted to approximately ₹110 crore. The reported turnover for these two months was ₹642 crore.
We have to see if this can trigger a controversy or a big debate on social media.
