No Shikhar Dhawan in the World Cup

Based on the specialist opinion, Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of the ongoing ICC World Cup. He injured his thumb during the recent game with Australia, against whom the talented cricketer scored a match-winning century.

The BCCI has placed a request with the ICC to let Rishab Pant play the tournament as a replacement.

What about pace Bhuvneshwar Kumar? His fitness status will be known either late on Wednesday or on Thursday. After he left the Indo-Pak match in the fifth over, bowler Vijay Shankar took Imam-ul-Haq's wicket in his first ball.

Meanwhile, Shankar Basu, Indian cricket team's strength and conditioning coach today said that the IPL does take a beating on the fitness of cricketers. "During IPL, they sleep as late as 2-3am, getting back to training regime was a sort of a challenge. They understand the importance of good sleep/wake pattern, good nutrition and training," he noted.
