Chennai: Actor Mohanlal has questioned, "What is wrong in praying for Mammootty?" He recently offered a special prayer at the Sabarimala temple using Mammootty’s real name. A receipt of this prayer surfaced on social media and went viral.
Some praised Mohanlal’s gesture as a "symbol of friendship." However, journalist Abdullah criticized him, stating that Mammootty is a follower of Islam and that Mohanlal’s act was inappropriate. He even demanded an apology from Mohanlal, which sparked controversy.
Addressing the issue at the ‘L2: Empuraan’ event in Chennai, Mohanlal said, "Mammootty is like a brother to me. What is wrong in praying for his well-being? This is a personal matter. Someone deliberately shared this. He is fine now, and it was just a minor health issue. There is no need to worry."
On June 18, Mohanlal visited the Sabarimala Ayyappan temple in Kerala, where he prayed for Mammootty’s health.
