Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is NOT a fan of Work From Home; Here is why...

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella may have allowed his employees to work from home till October (because of the pandemic), but he believes that the WFH option can't be practised permanently by anyone without sad consequences for mental health.

Speaking to New York Times, here is what Nadella says: “What I miss is when you walk into a physical meeting, you are talking to the person that is next to you, you are able to connect with them for the two minutes before and after... What does burnout look like? What does mental health look like? What does that connectivity and the community building look like? One of the things I feel is, hey, maybe we are burning some of the social capital we built up in this phase where we are all working remote. What's the measure for that?"

While Nadella's views have upset many, others agree with him. "100% agree with him. Have followed the WFH model for 4+ years and I'm craving to meet new people at gatherings. Sure, getting up at 10AM is fun somedays. But, I'm sure most of you are having a hard time with sleep cycles right now," tweets Shivam Vahia, a journalist. "I agree with him, while the work can be done from home the creative productivity that happens in face to face meeting get missed out. Also, a big miss is the camaraderie and relationships that get created which makes people push more for performance," comments Dinesh Kulkarni, a social media user.

"Forced WFH in a lockdown is probably problematic since you are cut off from the outside. But, do not agree with it being damaging in the long run once things normalise. You rather would have ample time for yourself, family & friends. Can say from personal experience," writes Bibek Ananda, a Twitter user.
