Soul of romance

Sandeep Chowta works in tandem with Bhaskarabhatla to belch out very good tunes.   Pragya Das Gupta, Sandeep Batra, Ambika Jois, Parama Dasgupta and  Varijashree Venugopal are the singers.

Oh Priyaa Naa Priyaa

Singers: Pragya Das Gupta and Sandeep Batraa
Lyrics: Bhaskarabhatla

The song drives home the appealing moral and emotive message that borders are man-made and love is always spiritual.  Bhaskarabhatla pens evocative lines.  The stanzas are short but so sweet.  Why do love and tears go together, the girl (played by Neha Shetty) wonders.  His presence undoes the noise of war for her.  Her absence is the real war for him.

Pragya Das Gupta and Sandeep Batraa strike the right chord.  When he croons 'Mehbooobaaaa', Sandeep's voice is almost infectious.  Pragya Das's soft voice matches the feminine attribute of the number.

Aa Bhi Jhaa

Singers: Pragya Das Gupta and Sandeep Batraa
Lyrics: Bhaskarabhatla

The lyrics come with a certain depth.  Even the rhyming words are not there for the sake of it.  They go with the film's rousing theme.  The singers fill the song with their sincerity.  Sandeep Chowta's earnest soft melody brings a Bollywoodish flavour.  In visualizing the "slow" song, Puri Jagannadh proves that 'Mehbooba' means business!

Singer: Ambika Jois
Lyrics: Bhaskarabhatla

Bhaskarabhatla's lyrics are like the breeze the love-stricken girl mentions in the song.  The lines seem to tap their fingers and the words hit us like a cool breeze.  The line 'Gunde thalupe muyyalante, kudharani panile saiyaan' is memorable.

Sandeep Chowta's sound is something Telugu cinema has not explored fully.  The musician brings a couple of influences and makes 'Saiyaan' an instant hit.  The deployment of instruments and the classical touch in the stanzas work to an evocative effect.  Ambika Jois has the right voice to carry a song that has an air of celebration and liberation about it.

Pichi Pichi Gaa

Singer: Parama Dasgupta
Lyrics: Bhaskarabhatla

The sprightly song is conceived around the theme of a love-struck girl waiting for her man to be around her.  The lyrics are sheer fun to listen to.  Like the previous song 'Saiyaan', they come with a lot of liveliness.  Parama Dasgupta's voice has this aura of lost innocence!  And The lover girl 'seen' through her voice is happy with it.

Naa Pranam

Singer: Varijashree Venugopal
Lyrics: Bhaskarabhatla

Bhaskarabhatla gets to pen a song where the lover girl finds self-assurance in the presence of her man ('Nee jatha lo ne naku dorike oka sainyam').  Varijashree Venugopal's voice is offbeat.  Sandeep Chowta chooses to dish out a leisurely melody that is also a throwback to old-world music.

The album is strong on both musical effectiveness and lyrical content.  Puri Jagannadh conceives strong situations and the singers immerse themselves in the intensity of 'Mehbooba'.
