Actor Unni Mukundan commented on the highly violent Malayalam film ‘Marco,’ stating that the movie portrays less than 10% of the violence happening in society.

Released in late 2024, ‘Marco’ became a massive success in India despite controversy surrounding its intense violent scenes. The film grossed over ₹100 crore and is now available on SonyLIV.

Speaking about the film’s OTT release, Unni Mukundan remarked, “Violence is a part of life. If observed closely, ‘Marco’ has not even shown 10% of what actually happens in society. Human history has evolved through violence, leading to peace.” He clarified that his statements were not meant to glorify violence but rather to acknowledge its presence in society.

Mukundan expressed gratitude for not having witnessed violence directly in his life but acknowledged its impact on large communities. He added, “Just because someone hasn’t seen violence doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.”

The filmmakers initially planned to include additional scenes in the OTT release, but due to restrictions, it remains the same as the theatrical version.

Despite being heavily focused on violent action sequences, ‘Marco’ received a strong response from audiences, crossing ₹100 crore worldwide.
