Officially ending his 21-year stint with Barcelona, Argentina footballer Lionel Messi has agreed to a deal that will keep him at French club Paris Saint-Germain for the next two years with an option to extend his contract by a year. PSG shared a brilliant teaser video ahead of the same ahead of the formal announcement.

Numerous PSG fans gathered at Le Bourget Airport in Paris to welcome Messi to the Ligue 1 club, who also expressed his excitement to be starting a new chapter of his life. "I am excited to begin a new chapter of my career at Paris Saint-Germain. Everything about the club matches my football ambitions. I know how talented the squad and the coaching staff are here. I am determined to help build something special for the club and the fans, and I am looking forward to stepping out onto the pitch at the Parc des Princes," Messi was quoted as saying.

Lionel Messi, who has been a free agent ever since his contract expiry with Barcelona at the end of June, left the Spanish club due to their economic and structural obstacles. Welcoming the soccer legend to his new team, PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi said, "I am delighted that Lionel Messi has chosen to join Paris Saint-Germain and we are proud to welcome him and his family to Paris. He has made no secret of his desire to continue competing at the very highest level and winning trophies, and naturally our ambition as a club is to do the same.''
