Karan Johar is planning a biopic on this freedom fighter

Karan Johar's Dharma Productions managed to impress audience and critics alike with their well crafted and heartfelt biopic of Captain Vikram Batra titled 'Shershah'. Now Karan is planning to tell yet another story about a patriot who lived for the betterment of the country. Dharma Productions next biopic is going to be about the freedom fighter, Usha Mehta.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, "Dharma Productions have been developing a number of scripts, and one of them is based on Usha Mehta. The said script has been in the making for the last few years, with the productions house carrying out extensive research about her."

When asked to share more about the project, the source added, "The script is based on the play Khar Khar, written by Amatya Goradia ad Pritesh Sodha, which won Best Script and Best Director Award at IPTA's Inter-collegiate drama competition, and Karan Johar is looking at roping in Kannan Iyer to direct the venture. As for adapting the play for the screen, Darab Farooqui is working on it.”

Usha Mehta used to run an underground radio channel called Congress Radio during our freedom struggle. She was awarded Padma Vibhushan after independence. The project remains untitled as of now.
