After making a debut in Boys, Manikandan is now back after a big gap, playing hero in Kadhal FM.

A story of a radio jockey falling in love with an avid listener of his programmes. Both had never seen each other before, yet fall in love and develop intimacy over mobile phone. Unfortunately, Manikandan's 'inferiority complex' prevents him from meeting the heroine (Shivani Singh).  What makes the movie interesting is the good screenplay by Jayaprakash.

Unfortunately a slew of double entendre dialogues and needless silly comedy sequences involving Karunaas and Vaiyapuri take the sheen away from the movie.

Manikandan (Manikandan) is  a radio jockey with Suryan FM. For a live-in programme hosted by him, he has fans calling from all over Chennai. One such is Ruchika (Shivani Singh), a college student. She falls in love with Manikandan's voice and she expresses her love to him. Manikandan too reciprocates. However when they decide to meet, Manikandan fearing that his 'average personality' would hamper their love, decides not to meet her and continues his romance over phone.

Meanwhile Ruchika visits the radio station and mistakes a smart RJ Aravind for Manikandan. The rest is all about how Manikandan manages to clear the air and overcomes his complex and express his love to Ruchika.

Manikandan plays the youth struck with inferiority complex quite well and equally ravishing is debutante Shivani Singh. A sincere performance by Manikandan indeed while Ruchika has provided enough glamour too in the movie.

Karunaas playing Chilly Chicken, a Radio Jockey fails to evoke laughter. 'Sun TV Top 10' fame Balaji plays Manikandan's friend.

Music by debutant Aravind-Shankar is a major solace. A couple of songs and choreography provides a major relief in the movie.

Aravindh, Ajay Rathinam, Balu Anand, Anu Mohan, Arul mani and Jagan are also in the cast.

The narration could have been taut and a bit more urgency could have brought into the proceedings. But Jayaprakash has shown some promise. But the room for improvement is still there.

Kadhal FM surely needs some fine tuning.
