JACTTO-GEO, the joint action committee of government employees, workers, and teachers, has been continuously staging protests. Today, they are conducting a hunger strike across Tamil Nadu, emphasizing their 10-point demands.
In support of this protest, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay released a statement on his X platform. In his statement, he criticized the DMK government for failing to fulfill its promises made before the 2021 assembly elections. He pointed out that despite their assurances to reinstate the old pension scheme and address various service-related grievances, the government has ignored these demands.
Vijay highlighted several key demands, including the implementation of the old pension scheme, salary increments for higher education qualifications, resolving pending leave approvals, addressing salary anomalies, granting promotions, and providing defined salaries for various categories of workers such as mid-day meal staff, Anganwadi workers, revenue assistants, sanitation workers in the education sector, and MRB nurses.
Additionally, he urged the government to regularize part-time and contract teachers, fill vacancies in multiple government departments promptly, and address the issues faced by employees in the integrated education sector.
He accused the DMK government of deceiving government employees and teachers after leveraging their support during elections. Despite claiming to be a model for other states, the government has failed to fulfill commitments, forcing employees to protest even on holidays. Vijay expressed full support for the JACTTO-GEO protest on behalf of TVK.
