IPL: Is David Warner bidding goodbye to SRH? The batsman hints in an Instagram comment!

Australian cricketer and Sunrisers Hyderabad's star opening batsman David Warner is most likely to discontinue his participation with the struggling franchise. Warner and SRH are having a bad season in the IPL and things aren't well between him and the management.

The 34-year-old joined SRH in 2014. He has never failed to register at least 500 runs for his franchise in every season from 2014 to 2020. David took over the charge of the team in 2015 and led the side to its maiden IPL title in 2016. His highest run tally in a single IPL is 848 runs off 17 innings in the 2016 season.

Warner clinched the Orange Cap in 2016, 2017 and 2019 seasons with the SRH by a brilliant run with the bat. He has the highest average in the league and owes a humongous strike rate to his name. David remains the highest run-scorer for SRH. He has single-handedly won the matches when the team was in the worst situation.

Unfortunately, the 2021 season has been a letdown to the phenomenal batsman. In the first phase of IPL 2021 in India, New Zealand cricketer Kane Williamson replaced Warner as the skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad. Also, he was dropped from the playing XI after the Orange Army only managed 1 win from the first 6 matches.

After Jonny Bairstow withdrew from the UAE leg of the season, Warner made his comeback in the playing XI. However, the senior batsman failed to utilise the opportunities and only managed 2 runs in as many matches. He has scored only 195 runs in 8 matches this year at an average of 24.37. His strike rate, at present, is the lowest in all his IPL stints.

In yesterday's SRH vs RR match, David Warner has left out from the playing XI once again. Young player Jason Roy took over the opening spot and scored a fabulous half-century. The fact that Warner didn't even travel to the stadium with the team didn't escape the attention of the fans.

Responding to a fan on Instagram, Warner commented, "Unfortunately won't be again but keep supporting, please." Warner has confirmed that he won't be travelling to the stadium again, hinting that his IPL career with SRH is all but over. Meanwhile, Jason and Williamson led SRH to 2nd win of the season. However, the team is out of the playoffs race.

SRH's head coach Trevor Bayliss opened up at the post-match conference on Monday when asked about Warner staying back in his hotel room. He says, "We can't make the finals, so we made a decision that we want the youngsters to experience not just the matches, but time at the ground and around the set-up."
