Over 100 Canadian students lined up for a Tim Hortons job fair, a sign of the tight job market. Indian student Nishat recorded the long queue at York University in Toronto. He said that he had been looking for a part-time job for months.

"Many Indian students take up part-time jobs to manage the high cost of living in Canada," he said. Very frustrating. I've been trying for six months, and asking my family for money when my friends are working is humiliating." After a series of rejections, Nishat headed for Toronto's Tim Hortons employment fair to secure work.

He said in the viral Instagram video today that he came 30 minutes early to the job fair only to find a very long line. From what he could tell, he believed 90% of the students were Indian, with hundreds in line. He waited long after he had spent $2 on printing and re-editing his resume, anticipating success.

The Tim Hortons staff took note of the students' availability and collected their resumes, with the intention of reporting back to them later if they were selected for an interview. Nishat, who had filled in his resume and submitted it, journeyed long distances to later apply at another store. He reflected on his challenging day, saying, "I went thinking hard." Home.

Indian students are filing complaints or debarring his job search in the comments section of his Instagram handle, which has approximately 1 million views since June 12. According to an October 2023 PTI report, high cost of living and poor accommodation are forcing Indian students not to work in Canada, to hide from steep rents and utilities."
