The production responsibilities for the Ilaiyaraaja biopic have undergone a change. A film based on the life of legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja was announced with his name, and initial work had begun. Director Arun Matheswaran was involved in script discussions with Ilaiyaraaja, and related photos were shared. However, the project was paused halfway, and actor Dhanush, who was set to play Ilaiyaraaja, shifted focus to other films.

Reports emerged suggesting that the Ilaiyaraaja biopic had been shelved. However, Connect Media, the production company, denied these claims. Now, it appears that production is resuming. In addition to Connect Media, AGS Entertainment has joined as a co-producer.

Discussions have concluded, and contract formalities are expected to begin soon. Meanwhile, director Arun Matheswaran is set to direct a Hindi film first and will work on the Ilaiyaraaja biopic after completing it.
