Idly Kadai Preview

"Idly Kadai" is an upcoming Tamil-language drama marking the fourth directorial venture of acclaimed actor-filmmaker Dhanush, who also stars in the lead role. Co-produced by Dhanush's Wunderbar Films and Aakash Baskaran's Dawn Pictures, the film boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Nithya Menen, Arun Vijay, Shalini Pandey, Prakash Raj, and Rajkiran.

The narrative centers on Selvan (Dhanush), a man deeply rooted in his community, navigating the challenges of preserving his family's traditional idly shop amidst modern societal changes. Kayal (Nithya Menen) plays a pivotal role in Selvan's journey, adding emotional depth to the storyline. Arun Vijay portrays the antagonist, providing a compelling counterpoint to Selvan's character.

The film's technical crew features G. V. Prakash Kumar as the music composer, Kiran Koushik handling cinematography, and Prasanna GK as the editor. Principal photography commenced in September 2024, with significant portions filmed in the villages of Theni and Pollachi in Tamil Nadu. As of March 2025, the production is nearing completion, with only a song sequence left to be shot overseas.

Originally slated for a theatrical release on April 10, 2025, "Idly Kadai" has been postponed due to the pending song sequence and scheduling challenges with the ensemble cast. Producer Aakash Baskaran has indicated that a new release date will be announced soon, with expectations set for a June 2025 premiere. 

Anticipation for "Idly Kadai" is high, given Dhanush's multifaceted involvement and the film's exploration of cultural themes. Fans eagerly await its release, expecting a narrative that balances tradition and modernity, underscored by powerful performances and a rich musical score.
