Good acting doesnt get credit in mainstream cinema, says Arjun Kapoor

In last few years, the significance of mainstream cinema in India has decreased since audience have started deviating towards content rich films which star trained and skilled actors instead of filmstars. In a recent conversation with The Indian Express, actor Arjun Kapoor stated that people wrongly believe that mainstream cinema doesn't require much acting skills and that mainstream stars are generally not proficient in their craft.

Citing the example of 'Avengers', he stated, "Avengers, people think there is no acting involved in it, it is ridiculous. How can commercial cinema not be considered as craft? Craft is important in cinema and I work very hard on my craft. It has paid off, but have enough people seen it?"

Talking about his own case in particular, Arjun said, "So when people question my craft, they must have not seen Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar because it wasn’t commercial enough. But when they see my commercial films, the perception created is that it doesn’t need craft. People need to realise that craft is an important aspect in all kinds of films. The problem is that if you’re deviating from mainstream, only then your craft is considered."

On the work front, Arjun Kapoor will soon be seen in films 'Kuttey' and 'The Lady Killer'.
