Former Gannavaram MLA and YSR Congress Party's key leader Vallabhaneni Vamshi was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police in Hyderabad earlier today. He was one of the accused in the attack on the Telugu Desam Party's office in Gannavaram. Vamshi is currently being shifted to Vijayawada to investigate the case further.
In the past, Vamshi also made offensive comments against AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's wife, Nara Bhuvaneshwari, and current IT Minister Nara Lokesh. Since then, the entire TDP cadre has been furious against him. In February 2023, the TDP's office was attacked and vandalised. A police investigation revealed that Vamshi's followers supervised the attack.
As of now, AP police have arrested many individuals in connection with this case, including Vamshi's personal assistant Raja. Now, with his arrest, YCP faced a major blow once again.
Vamshi shifted from the TDP to the YCP in 2020. He contested the 2024 General Election on the YCP ticket but lost to Yarlagadda Venkata Rao.
