Two highly anticipated films, Empuran starring Mohanlal and Veeratheera Sooran starring Vikram, hit the screens yesterday. Let’s take a look at their opening day box office collections.

Empuran’s Record-Breaking Opening

Directed by Prithviraj, Empuran was released amid massive expectations, and it delivered spectacularly at the box office. Reports suggest that the film raked in a whopping ₹22 crore on its first day, setting a new record for the highest opening day collection in Malayalam cinema history.

For comparison, Prithviraj’s previous directorial ventures, Aadu Jeevitham and Lucifer, had first-day collections of ₹9 crore and ₹6 crore, respectively. Empuran has surpassed them by a significant margin.

Veeratheera Sooran’s Strong Start Despite Limited Shows

Meanwhile, Vikram’s Veeratheera Sooran opened to highly positive reviews. However, as the film had only an evening release yesterday, it managed to collect ₹3.25 crore with just two screenings on its first day.

Thanks to excellent word-of-mouth, the film is running housefull today across all theaters. With the weekend ahead, Veeratheera Sooran is expected to see a massive surge in collections.
