'Conjuring Kannappan' : A Rollercoaster of Funny Moments and Terrifying Twists That Will Keep You Engaged!

In a captivating foray into the film industry, Selvin Raj Xavier makes a stellar debut with his movie "Conjuring Kannappan," presenting an exceptional storyline. Despite initial delays due to the Chennai floods, the film finally hits the screens today, overcoming the setbacks.

"Conjuring Kannappan" invites audiences into a world where different genres blend seamlessly. The movie assures an unmatched experience, skillfully amalgamating elements of comedy, horror, and fantasy, making it a worthwhile watch. Sathish, after a considerable hiatus, impressively blends comedy and performance in this movie.

The plot revolves around Sathish (portraying Kannappan), a member of a middle-class family, who discovers a cursed dreamcatcher in his house's old well. Accidentally plucking a feather from it results in Sathish entering a nightmarish dream world whenever he sleeps, where any harm he faces affects him in reality. Initially slow-paced, the movie gains momentum once Redkin, Anandraj, and Sathish's family join him in the dream horror world, creating a blend of horror and comedy.

Saranya Ponnvannan , VTV Ganesh, and Namo Narayana deliver equally humorous performances, though a few jokes miss the mark. Nasser and Regina Cassandra shine in their roles as exorcists, delivering their trademark stellar performances.

Director Selvin Raj Xavier, having previously assisted industry veterans Chimbu Devan and Sumanth Radhakrishnan, showcases his creative brilliance in this debut supernatural adventure, showcasing his versatile talent. Yuvan Shankar Raja's enchanting musical score adds depth and emotion, amplifying the cinematic allure of "Conjuring Kannappan."

The film excels in technical aspects like sound design, thanks to Matthew Barr as the A.D.R. recordist, Sukumar Nallagonda as the sound effects editor, and A.M. Rahmathulla as the sound mixer and re-recording mixer, ensuring an audiovisual extravaganza.

Lately, AGS Productions has been actively exploring and acknowledging emerging talents, backing films with distinctive storylines. Soon AGS has a lot of potential to become a powerhouse of producing unique entertainers.

"Conjuring Kannappan" isn't the typical horror comedy but offers a unique experience for family audiences, promising laughter and spine-chilling moments.

Verdict:  'Conjuring Kannappan' delivers an entertaining mix of laughter and chilling moments, offering a family-friendly horror-comedy experience worth watching.

Rating: 3.25 / 5.0
