Actor Harshavardhan Rane is overjoyed as his 2016 film Sanam Teri Kasam became a blockbuster upon its re-release. In just a week, the film collected ₹30 crores at the box office, which is double its earnings from the original theatrical run.
Interestingly, Sanam Teri Kasam outperformed last week’s release Loveyaapa, featuring Junaid Khan (Aamir Khan’s son) and Khushi Kapoor (Sridevi’s daughter) in lead roles.
Unlike star kids, Rane did not achieve success overnight. He struggled for years in both Hindi and Telugu film industries. With Telugu roots from his mother’s side, he debuted in 2010 with Thakita Thakita. His major breakthrough finally came with this re-release in 2025.
In a recent interview, Rane spoke about nepotism, stating that he is not insecure about star kids’ opportunities. He believes that while many star kids fade away, outsiders often find long-term success. Maintaining this mindset helps him stay positive and avoids complaints about nepotism.
His perspective holds true, considering how Bollywood star kids like Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, Ishan Khatter, Ananya Panday, and Sara Ali Khan are still struggling for stardom. Meanwhile, outsiders like Rajkumar Rao, Mrunal Thakur, Lakshya (of Kill fame), Ayushmann Khurrana, Taapsee Pannu, Sanya Malhotra, and Harshavardhan Rane continue to shine, building their own reputations.
