Marvel concluded Steve Rogers' story with "Endgame" and later introduced Sam Wilson as the new Captain America through a web series. Now, "Captain America: Brave New World" is the first standalone film featuring the new Captain America.
President Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford), former military commander who once hunted superheroes like Hulk and Captain America, is now in power. A celestial island in the Indian Ocean containing Adamantium (a reference to X-Men) sparks a global competition among India, Japan, the US, and France. Meanwhile, Ross requests Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) to form a new Avengers team.
Another antagonist, "The Leader," manipulates soldiers’ minds for his agenda, affecting both Captain America and President Ross. The movie focuses on whether Captain America can stop him.
Marvel has struggled after "Endgame" due to the absence of iconic heroes like Iron Man and Steve Rogers. While shows like "Loki" and films like "Guardians of the Galaxy 3" attempted comebacks, this film feels like another setback.
Sam Wilson’s heroic moments are scattered, failing to establish a strong Avengers leadership presence. Compared to "Winter Soldier," which blended action and espionage effectively, this lacks a solid screenplay.
Key sequences, including Captain America's introduction, a Red Hulk fight, and dialogue between Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson, are minimal. The usual Marvel humor is also absent, making the film feel too intense.
The finale Red Hulk fight stands out, offering a thrilling moment. Technically, the film delivers strong visuals and sound. Harrison Ford impresses as Ross/Red Hulk, and Anthony Mackie provides a stable performance. However, the weak buildup fails to engage Marvel fans.
This movie sets the stage for "Avengers: Doomsday" (2026), as hinted in the post-credits, but lacks an engaging story or character development.
