Arun Kumar made his directorial debut in 2014 with the Vijay Sethupathi-starrer movie Pannaiyarum Padminiyum. He later directed Sethupathi in collaboration with Vijay Sethupathi, which was well-received by both critics and audiences.

Following this, Arun Kumar worked with Vijay Sethupathi for the third time on the 2019 film Sindhubaadh. Most recently, in 2023, he directed the movie Chithha starring Siddharth, which earned positive reviews and performed well at the box office. Currently, he is working on the film Veera Dheera Sooran, starring Vikram, set to release in March.
