Lyricist Pa. Vijay has directed his third film, "Agathiya." The movie features Jeeva, Arjun, Raashi Khanna, Yogi Babu, and European actress Mathilde. It is produced by Isari Ganesh and Vem India Aneesh Arjun Dev under the banner of Vels Film International. Cinematography is handled by Deepak Kumar Pathy, and music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film is set to release on the 28th of this month.
Pa. Vijay describes "Agathiya" as a horror fantasy film with elements reflecting cultural heritage. The story connects a plot set in the 1940s to the present day. To break the conventional horror movie pattern, the film includes a fresh storyline. Since part of the story is set during the French colonial period, some scenes were shot in Puducherry. It is a family-friendly movie with a meaningful message.
The film includes extensive graphics, with around 1.5 hours of VFX, making it visually appealing, especially for children. The climax is said to be a unique visual treat, created using motion capture technology and converted into 3D.
A grand palace set was constructed at EVP Studios, and a jungle-themed set was built at Gokulam Studios, both adding to the film’s richness. Arjun plays a crucial and powerful role rather than a negative character.
For better audience engagement, a game based on the movie was developed, which has received a positive response. The film demanded a high budget due to its fantasy elements, elaborate sets, and extensive graphics. Thanks to Vels Film International, it was made possible.
Cinematographer Deepak Kumar Pathy’s work is expected to be widely appreciated, and Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music will elevate the movie experience. "Agathiya" will release in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.
