It has been trying times of the Tamil film industry for the past few months with many of its stars passing away to coronavirus and other reasons. Most recently actors Vivek, Pandu, directors Thamira and K.V. Anand have left for their heavenly abode.

Actress Panjavarnam who played Karthi's paternal grandmother in his debut movie 'Paruthi Veeran' has passed away on Thursday. Hailing from the Madurai area she was one of the many locals who director Ameer used in the award-winning film.

Karthi in his condolence message has written in Tamil "I heard about the passing away of Panjavarnam Paati who lived the role as my grandmother in 'Paruthi Veeran'. Her innocent smile-loving speech comes before my eyes now. I extend my deepest condolences to her family members".
