A.R. Rahman did Tamil and Indian cinema proud by winning two Oscars for Best Original Score and Best Original Song for 'Slumdog Millionaire' directed by Danny Boyle at the Academy Awards 2009. Though a few celebrities from India have got the much coveted awards before it was the Mozart from Madras who got if for a mainstream film making Tamil cinema and Indian cinema proud.

Rahman further glorified Tamil by speaking it during his Oscar acceptance speech "Ella Pugazhum Iraivanukke" (All praise be to the almighty). The much celebrated music composer recently reacted to the Indian Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah batting to make Hindi the link language of all states in the country. Rahman told pressmen that Tamil should be the link language which was hailed universally by the Tamil people.

Newsglitz got popular actress turned politician Gayathri Raghuram for a one on one interview in which she was asked about the issue. The BJP spokesperson stated that Rahman should then return his Oscar Awards since he got it for a Hindi film and Hindi song "Jai Ho".

She further added that henceforth the legendary composer should only create songs in Tamil whether he is working for a Hindi or a Telugu film. She urged that he should not only preach to the society but he himself should begin a change. There is more from Gayathri Raghuram on this issue as well as much more in the interview video below.
