For almost the first time in his three decades long celebrated career, Isaipuyal A.R. Rahman is making headlines for the wrong reason. The legendary composer held a live concert at a venue in ECR, Chennai that allegedly was not handled properly by the event organizer that has given a nightmare experience for the majority of the ticket paying crowd.
Angry fans are posting videos on social media with some even going to the extent of condemning the Oscar winner for the mishap. Rahman took to X and Instagram to take responsibility and initiated a refund drive to those who went through the ordeal. His statement read " "some people call me G.O.A.T, let me be the sacrificial goat this time for all of us to wake up ..let chennai's live art flourish with a world class infrastructure, increase in tourism, efficient crowd management, traffic management ,refining audiences to follow rules ..creating a safe and surreal experience for children and women ..Triggering a cultural renaissance at chennai celebrating our deserving ,illuminated local and international talent "
ARR's daughters Khatija and Raheema Rahman have strongly responded to the criticism with a post that pointed out "From last night, all media/social media is talking about AR Rahman (like scammer) & some playing cheap politics. The reason for the unfortunate circumstances happened yesterday is 100% from organiser side! But he took the responsibility and accountable (sic)".
The post also listed a number of charity concerts that the much celebrated composer held from 2016 to 2022, for flood relief, to help people during the Covid pandemic and for the benefit of the lighmen union in cinema. Khatija and Raheema added, "Think before you speak!"
A.R. Rahman's upcoming films include Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Lal Salaam', Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan's 'KH 234' directed by Mani Ratnam, Sivakarthikeyan's 'Ayalaan', Vijay Sethupathi's 'Gandhi Talks' and Jayam Ravi's 'Genie'.
